Wireless Sensors Network
Integrated operation of water and energy systems demands the availability of data in real time. Sensing modules should enclosure in the same frame energy, sensing and communication. The main goals it will be the harvesting of enough energy from the environment, with technologies mainly based on microbial fuel cells, vibrations, or solar, to power wireless sensors networks. The management and reports operation will disseminate the information.
– Low Power and energy harvest
The development of a wireless sensor network deals at least with two major issues: energy and communications. The first issue will be addressed by this WT by developing alternatives methods to power WSN that traditionally are powered by battery. Energy harvest methods ensure long live operation without requiring battery replacement. This will contribute to cut operational costs. The sources of energy under research should be available in both rural and urban areas. However, the developed solutions should take in consideration their final application.
– Wireless sensor network
Concerning wireless communications, the task will research about protocols and their effectiveness in performing its function. Urban and rural areas present different problems and concerns. The wireless communications protocols to be developed should take in consideration WSN energetic restrictions. Operating strategies applying sleeping techniques conjugated with low power electronics will ensure module energetic efficiency. Another topic under research will be data security and encryption.
-Data management and automatic report
The availability of a WSN will provide a massive quantity of information. If not correctly presented, the benefit obtained is low. However, if data is processed and presented properly formatted and well organized, depending on the intended destination, it will be helpfulness. We can image that supported on these information automatic action can be performed without human intervention.
